Hey guys, I just picked up a new S&W M&P15OR. Listed below are the factory specs and details on chromed parts:
Model: M&P15 Caliber: 5.56 mm NATO / .223 Capacity: 30 Rounds - Detachable Mag Action: Semi-Auto Barrel Length: 16" Barrel Twist: 1 in 9" Front Sight: None Rear Sight: None Overall Length: 35" Extended/32" Collapsed Stock: 6 Position CAR Stock Weight: 6.5 lbs. Barrel Material: 4140 Steel Receiver Material: 7075 T6 Aluminum Finish: Hard Coat Black Anodized Chromed Comp: Barrel Bore, Gas Key Bolt Carrier, Chamber The only thing that appears to be chrome lined is the barrel. Everything else is OBVIOUSLY NOT chromed. I called smith and wesson and they assured me that the parts are chromed, and they turn black during test firing. I just can't belive that a chrome carrier would turn completely black from a few test fires. Whats up with this? It also appears that there are very deep gouges on the feed ramps. Is this normal? |
