Im looking at building my first ar-15 in 5.56. My original plan was to go with a Bravo Company upper and a rock river arms lower, but my friend at work suggested I purchased a rock river arms upper and lower match set so its not a gamble on whether or not they fit tight together. I'm just not sure if it is worth the extra ~$100+ for the match set versus my original plans.

Even when you buy a matched set they still wobble.

This says they are specially selected for a tight fit.

All my mix and match are tight. Maybe I got lucky?

I have an Aero Precision lower with a Spike's upper. I  used an Accuwedge and eliminated the wobble. The fit is now super tight.

A good fit between uppers and lowers even from the same manufacturer can be hit or miss.
I generally have at least a couple of uppers on hand which can help get a good fit.
A matched set from RRA should get you a good fit.

The manufacture doesn't matter. RRA caters to the crowd that thinks tight receivers have something to do with making a good shooter. Use the two brands you originally planned for & be happy.
