The Matech is a very affordable BUIS. I see the elevation goes from 200-600 yards. However, I generally shoot at 100 yards or shorter distances. Would the Matech be good for that?

I have one. It is a very nice BUIS but it only has the small reticle and my old eyes don't work too well at ranges under 200 with it. The LMT style large/small reticle works better for me. Just a shooter's preference.

Add: I believe it is intended as a co-witness sight for your optics and not as an in close backup.

Just leave the BUIS dialed in at 300.  It will work fine within that range.

If you keep it on the 300 with a carbine or on the line with a 20" rifle it will shoot fine
at the 100 with a military style BZO

Remember that those numbers mean nothing really, they are just reference points and
if you want it just to shoot at 100 yards, then you can just sight it in for that and be done.

I have two of them and the only thing I dont like about them is that the apature catches
light easy and can distort your view through it some. Other than that they are great.

If you think 6" high is 'fine'....

Keep it at 200, zero it at 50yards and you'll keep all the shots within 2.5" of the point of aim from muzzle to 225M; at 100y you'll be less than 2" high.
