is there a way to zero the matech  BUIS at  25 yars/meters   for a combat zero?  like using the carry handle zero at 25?   or am I stuck  zeroing it at 200 yards to start with?  I would like to  use a 25 meter target to calibrate it like the CH method. anyone know of a way?

Use the 300 meter setting to zero it at 25 meters.

thanks a lot man.   do you know why there is just a white line at the 350 mark instead of  "350"? all the others have the 50 mark but not the 300 one

Because that is where you're supposed to zero from at 25M.

I thought maybe that is what you used to zero the  A4 with if zeroing at 25 yards......

So will you get a good 50yd zero at the 200 yd mark on a Matech(I just ordered one...)

I did it at 50 on a A4. I used country boy sense and figured the rest would correspond. It works out with pencil and paper. I don't have a 200 yard range because the range has a surcharge to use it.

For an M4 I believe it is supposed to be zeroed at 25M useing the 300 mark

the A4 it should be on the line for a 25M zero

It's calibrated for M855 and is a compromise to begin with since it is used with both the M4 and M16A4.  It's not designed to be exact but just close.  If you zero it at 50 the calibrations will be off.  You would be better off zeroing at 200 or at least checking it.  It's fancy but still a BUIS.  It does however work well to estimate holds at 400 to 500 when used with your M68.  Never tried it at 600......

you zero SLIGHTLY higher (like 325?) for 300... not sure why, i guess has something to compensate for range diff?

anyways I have a question about this sight.

the least you can do is 200.....

well how do I shoot stuff that is say 50/100? judge by aiming low? there is no <200m?

i believe it has something to do with bullet trajectory, but i'm not too sure on how that works so....

bullet goes down, back up, and down again.

so you put it at 300, and u are good upto 300 yards from 25 to 300?

what is 200 for then?

thanks!

The sight is designed to be used exactly like the A2 carry handle sight with M855 ammunition.  The user interface is different, but the function is identical, it's supposed to be a drop in replacement for the detachable carry handle.

The sight is designed to be zeroed at 25m using a military zeroing target, which is not to say you can't use it any other way, but 50m or 100m zeroes, though they may be better objectively is not what the sight is designed for.

I can't speak for other services, but for Army use, you use a 300m battlesight zero on a 25m range.  All of targets in an Army qual are <300m, and you just have to use the proper offsets, i.e. aim  low at 50m, aim high at 200m, ect.

It may not be the best solution for an individual, but having weapons consistently zeroed at very least throughout a unit is useful, because you can pick up any properly zeroed weapon, and know what holdovers are necessary at what ranges.
