Has anyone ever used these? Curious if they are good to go for a budget build?

The lower should be fine. Matrix makes lowers for Ruger.  I have a Factory Ruger 556 and a Matrix lower on my PSA Upper; no problems with either and the fit is very good.

Thanks.  Is the Matrix lower identical to the one on your Ruger (aside from rollmark)?

Looks to be the same to me.

I built a .308 from their lower and upper receivers. Some of the best I have seen. Fit and finish were superb.

I just received a Matrix Aerospace upper and lower set.  I haven't put a barrel on the upper but have outfitted the lower with a PSA pistol parts kit and everything fit fine.  The machining looks top quality with no marks that I have seen on other vendors' receivers.

Odd? At one time Ruger's Pine Tree Casting was making AR-15 lowers for several different companies and you say they are farming out their lower receivers?

Just what I was told, that matrix makes Ruger lowers. Reading online they make other parts for Ruger AR15's and Troy Rails.

It seems that almost all references to Matrix manufacturing receivers for Ruger trace back to an outfit that goes by "runnerrunner".

Not saying it isn't true but after all of the allegations that CMT manufactures all of Colt's receivers (which isn't true) I wondered why Ruger would farm out receivers when they manufactured them for years for DPMS, EA, and others makes you wonder.

Are they cast?  I thought they were forged.  And given the rear profile style, could they be the same forgings as Armalite Model A receivers?
