As the title says, but Im just curiouse.
If a barrel has a perm FH, is there anyway to remove it without messing up the barrel or FH?
Its a 5.5" FH and looks to be welded around the end to the barrel. Im figuring perm is perm, but just for $hits and giggles, Im asking.

Pleace, go easy with the hacking...

A gunsmith could probably get it off without too much damage to the barrel, depending on whether its brazed or welded. Then you would probably be in possession of a short-barreled rifle, which is a felony without the proper license.

Yea its a real short barrel, i havent measured it, but it looks like an 11.5. FH is just barely past the FSB, maybe 2" tops.
Im working in the liceanse now, meeting with an FFL buddy of mine after my tour today to get some info.
Whats the diff between blazed and welded?

I maybe wrong but I believe the perm flash suppressor is held on by pins, I'm sure you could probably tap them out yourself.

If it's a 11.5 + 5.5 FH then it's welded or pinned & welded to make it perm in the ATF's eyes. You cannot remove it w/out a lot of work & hassle. Take it to a smith to have it done properly unless you know what you're doing. But make sure you do this after you get a tax stamp.

I didnt see any pins. When I looked at it, it almost looks that the barrel and FH are one peice...

ETA:
Its older model, lower serial number of company that doesnt exist anymore, that I can find (Sendra Corp). Im wanting to restore it, I plan to put a new 5.5" FH on it. The orig is scarred and looks like someone had tried to take it off (pry and plier marks on it!)
