Hey all,
Just thought I would show off my current AR build. I decided that I wanted my first AR to be something unique. I went with a Mega billet build. I had to go with Mega, not only because of the superb build quality, but the logo is delightfully geeky! I have gotten crazy lucky with both the upper and lower of this thing. I got a hold of the Mega MG-XTR lower from carricozarmory.com to start. It is a limited production, 1 in 300 lower, so you won't see many of these around. The upper I just purchased last week, and should be here tomorrow. Funny thing, I have been looking for a Mega billet upper with m4 ramps for a long time. I'm a software developer, so I wrote a program a while back designed to search Gunbroker, the ar15.com EE, and a couple other places just to find this upper. As soon as one hit Gunbroker last week, an email fired off to me, and I snapped it up! I have a Stag lpk, and buffer tube. I want to run a Magpul CTR (maybe UBR) stock, with a 16" barrel, and maybe some Daniel Defense rails. Anyways, here are the pics of the progress so far. Lemme know what yall think. http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/6729/dscn1717v.jpg http://img188.imageshack.us/img188/899/dscn1725v.jpg http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/417/dscn1721d.jpg http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/6106/dscn1717a.jpg |

wouldn't say paint, more like crayola :)
i'll be trying actual paint when it wears off to see if it holds up better, no complaints on the crayon so far though edit: hey, look into the acs stock as well, i really like it. wanted to with the ubr, but it is pricey, besides, you already bought the buffer tube so you'd have wasted cash on that unless you sell it as the ubr uses its own buffer extension if i'm not mistaken. the ctr is nice, but doesn't have much cheek weld. i like the ACS because it has storage, a nice cheek weld, and has friction lock. has most of the features of the ubr, the good stuff form the ctr, but is much less than the ubr and not much more than the ctr. |

Nice, I'm building an AR off of the Mega billet upper/lower receiver set myself right now. . .
. . .so far I have the upper and lower receiver and I'm waiting for my DPMS lower parts kit, AR15 Performance 16.5" 6.8 SS Pac-Nor barrel w/headspaced 9310 I.T.S. SuperBolt and bolt carrier, AR15 Performance 6.8 logo laser etched ejection port door, and PRI 25 round 6.8 magazine to show up in the mail. I'm going to be using a YHM lightweight 1-pc. floating forearm with a YHM low profile gas block, Mag-Pul PRS stock. . .I just found a scope that I'm hoping will still be around when I have the moeny for it in 2 weeks as well. . . This will be my first AR build and I also wanted something that wasn't just run of the mill. . .I might upgrade to the carbon fiber PRI forearm after a while so that I can keep the AR as light as possible. This is going to be my coyote, bobcat, cougar, deer, and black bear rifle. . . |

Aww, I kinda wish I had read this 2 hours ago. I just bought the CTR. Oh well, it's still a crazy awesome stock. I might just get some sort of cheek rest for it. Lemme know how the paint job goes. I might just follow in your steps there. Quoted:

But that's gonna be a pretty dang good looking rifle. I'll tell ya what though, after putting these two receivers together, I can say that pictures just don't do it justice. The fit and finish of these two simply can't get any better. The finish is a deep, really satisfying black. Both pieces have no play at all between them. They are so perfectly fitted, it's like the upper and lower are one piece. It's rock solid. My stock should get here in a week or so. I'm not really sure what to get next for it. Probably the rest of the upper pieces is the next buy. http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/2096/dscn1739i.jpg http://img46.imageshack.us/img46/6329/dscn1735t.jpg |

Hey all, just a quick update. Just got the stock today, and snapped that bad boy in. Man, is this thing is rock solid. It's like having a fixed stock. I'm really happy with the CTR, and how the overall rifle looks like so far. I can't wait to take this thing for a range test!
