| Is @135 to high for a Mega Lower? |
|
Well... As BB said, that is the going rate. If you're looking at Rainier Arms, remember that they offer free shipping on orders over $50. With the shipping, now you're looking at what? Maybe a $20-25 premium over the cheapest lower you can find? I bought one for $135. Looks good, too. |
Not to hijack this thread, but what do most of you use for an upper? I was going to get a Mega lower and just put a complete upper on it since I don't have any tools yet for the upper assemblies, but i would really like to get a matching Mega upper. |
It's easier to build the upper than it is to build the lower, IMO. All you need is a GI combo wrench, a vise and barrel blocks, some automotive moly grease and a torque wrench. Snap ring pliers help, but just order the ring assembly from the same people you buy the barrel from and ask them to put it on for you. |
| $135 is the price. Bought one two weeks ago from Rainier Arms. Fit & finish is excellent, and has a nice deep even black color. No tool marks and is the closest thing out there in fit and finish to a billet lower. The VLTOR Mur or Vis looks nice on them and fits well. |

I use Mega uppers with my Mega lowers. It was a no-brainer. I also agree with BB. Uppers are a breeze to assemble, especially since most come with the trap door and forward assist installed. Put in the barrel, tighten it. Done. I run free-floats, so I don't even need delta rings. Anyone can do it with the few tools required! |
