I have a completed lower that's been waiting for a new upper and the rifle-lenght Mega Monolithis upper is finally available! Just ordered one from Rainier.
I'm thinking this will be ideal for an 18" or 20" scoped bench shooter but I haven't decided on a barrel yet. I'm looking at SS barrels from WOA, BCM, Rainier and Sabre. Leaning toward the WOA 18" SPR based in price. I'm looking for recommendations / opinions. Thanks... I'll post pics as the build progresses. |

I've been waiting for these to show up and hear some first hand reviews.

Midlength Mega monolithic single-rail with 16" barrel: http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f107/Driftwood2304/ar68035Medium.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f107/Driftwood2304/ar68029Medium.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f107/Driftwood2304/ar68036Medium.jpg Very nice. I'm awaiting the same upper, expecting delivery Thursday. I can't wait. |

unforgiven2: Tell us more about your build. Was it difficult to install the barrel? Does the handguard get hot in your hands at all after shooting 50-100 rounds? How would you compare it to a Larue handguard (which is what I own)?
I'm currently building a SPR rifle (I have the lower + stock + trigger). I need to decide what kind of upper to buy, and I like the monolithic rail. Thanks |

I have the same upper.
And I have not noticed any excessive heating. It feels warm but not to the point where it is uncomfortable. The barrel installation was also a breeze. I have a carbine length gas system so I had to make sure my gas block was able to slide on to my barrel before I installed it since it sits under the rail. |

Insert barrel, then insert nut with supplied deep socket, using your own wrench to tighten. I've never noticed heat from the handguard, but I don't do mag dumps with this particular rifle (6.8 SPC). Accuracy of the setup shown has been excellent using a Noveske Rogue Hunter barrel. http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f107/Driftwood2304/68AR004Medium.jpg Very Nice! Can't wait to get mine. |
