Mega is an areospace manufacturer first and it is common for them to release AR-product in "batches". I was also told ATF slowed 'em down recently. Who knows. I'm waiting on an M4 upper myself. I am on "the list" at a couple vendors and am hoping to hear something in the next 4 weeks. Some have reported success in contacting Mega directly and arranging purchase through a local shop. |
Not to boast, because it was pure luck, but I got a M4 Mega upper about a month ago! If I didn't find it, I would have waited. The match is just that good! |
| I've got 3 Mega M4 uppers and 3 Mega lowers (1 is rollmarked from another vendor, but made by Mega). It took a while to gather them all, but it was worth the wait. Mega spends 99% of their time manufacturing aerospace parts, and only makes AR parts part time. That is why they aren't as easy to source as other brands... |

Who in the "know" told you that? How and why would the ATF slow them down. By what authority would they be able to do this. I have never heard there were production caps set by the ATF or that they had the legal authority to do such a thing. If them why not DPMS or any or the other big boys that make 1000X more every day than mega makes in a year? I can see it now: Hey we don't like it that you are doing such a great job and people keep buying your uppers. Stop make so many or there will be trouble. I would have to see some proof before I would even begin to consider that as a reason. They are an Aero Space manufacturer. They have to fill their main contracts first not make some AR receivers. I think that is a much more realistic reason than the government thought they were making to many AR's  Tim |

I already have one without the ramps for my long range AR but these next two will be SBR's. I just want all the bells and whistles if ya know what I mean....Thanks for the info though. Take care, Don. |

I get the joke guys. But, for the benefit of others, I think I need to clarify my earlier post(s). I never said it was a gun store or that I believed it. I even had what I thought to be a disclaimer in my first post..."Who knows?" Actually, it was one of the few online dealers of Mega. I put that bit of information out there to see if anyone else had heard something similar. I took it with a grain of salt. I hoped others would as well. Anyhow, I found a Mega M4 upper. So, for me, the wait is over.

I heard the same thing about eight months ago. It's wasn't that the ATF was literally slowing them down, they had some paperwork issues and it didn't look good for them. The guy telling me this was my FFL. We got on the subject because I came to him looking for a Mega lower and knowing that he knew some of the guys at the factory. He was able to get me one the next day from them on a production overrun when nobody else in the area could, so I believe that he was not BS'ing to much. Anyway, they are still manufacturing parts. I think the paperwork thing may have caused a delay, but the fact that they just do this on the side would probably be the main reason for the parts being scarce. |
You know, I built my AR with a Mega lower and Mega upper. I have built two other ARs since. The best fitting AR upper/lower combo I have ever seen is my Mega upper and lower. Yes, Mega is THAT good. My buddy's upper he got from Del-Ton fit pretty nicely on his Spike Tactical lower. My other buddy's Del-Ton upper was a very, very tight fit on his Superior Arms lower, which seemed to have a couple of other slightly-tight dimensions. We had to hammer his rear pin in with a plastic mallet, but he put 100 rounds through the weapon and it goes together and comes apart very nicely now, and did not exhibit one malfunction of any kind. I would stake my life on all three weapons right now. |

I'm a few months away from buying an upper, but if I can't find a Mega upper I will go with something else and just wait. I mean, then I'll buy the Mega upper later, and looking at the spare upper, no doubt I'll want to buy a new lower. Which will be Mega. For which I will then want to buy a Mega upper. Which will leave me with a spare upper. Shit. |
LOL!  I'm in the same boat now. I have a couple of Mega upper/Mega lower guns now, but I have another Mega lower Recon build that is ready to be assembled---except for the damned Mega upper. I refuse to use a substitute! Damned BRD.

Sorry, but if you made parts for DoD programs, and had an active production line, AR lower an uppers would come right after cleaning the head. |
They only had stripped available so we got them. We'll have some RRA upper parts kits to make them complete though. The uppers and parts kits are on our website. I haven't gotten the RRA kits in yet though and don't have an ETA. I'll get more info tomorrow hopefully. |
