just my .02, are all parts compatible, I have never bulit a .308 before but gen you go into more detail on how "it wont go in" pics will help. I would give Rainer arms a call to see if they can help since thats who you got all the parts from, if not keep asking around here for help. Sorry I was no more helpful, good luck and cant wait to see the final bulid.

i have been reading a good amount and talking to everyone i can about this, and it seems that it must be "set" into place. i guess its not unheard of to use a rubber mallet to convince the barrel extension that it belongs in the upper.    but i have an issue with pounding something into place......

i'll reply to myself here, is it a good thing that it's such a tight fit that i have to hit the end of the barrel with a mallet to get it to seat correctly ?!

Have you tried it with any kind of grease or lubricant for assembly?

Have you talked to the vendor or manufacturer to see what would be typical?

yeah, they say to use a small amount of anti-seize on the extension and "a little bit of force may be needed" so i took a risk and tapped away..   it went in.
end result is a beauty ! pics to come.
