Is there anything good about it or would I just be wasting my money?

Thanks

Melonite is not just a coating it is a nitro-carborizing treatment which penetrates the steel slightly. It leaves a remarkably hard black in color surface that will not corrode chip or scratch off. As to whether or not you should be doing it that depends on what you are treating and why. For what it does (making a durable, hard, black colored surface) Melonite is the best option.

On the below website they have an article which talks about a melonite treatment on barrels and some of the benefits.

It's resistant to damage, it is very resistant to corrosion, it lessens the friction inside the barrel which actually decreases your bullet speed.  That makes sense if you think about it, because the bullet moves down the barrel more easily, the gun doesn't build up as much pressure behind the bullet.

But in any case, read the article.  It's interesting.

Why not just buy a barrel thats already done?  Platers and coaters fuck up parts all the time.  LWRC is going to sell their barrels seperately and Superior sells their barrels seperately of course.
