I am not trying for sub MOA groups, but within 1-1.5MOA would be good. This will be a range queen, lol. Went with chrome lined vs. stainless because I plan to shoot it alot. 16" chrome lined HBAR 1/9 (not shooting more than 62gr), 5.56 NATO, threaded, CAR gas Backup YHM flip front sight tower @ rifle length (dissipator style) LMT semi carrier, bolt A3 upper YHM FF 4 rifle lenght rail lightweight Harris bipod and rail adapter scope & mount undecided, but at least 6x, probably Larue SPR mount A1 stock 3.5lb trigger, undecided Noveske Krink FH comments? pics of YHM rifle rail on 16" and krink FH? |
Damn I missed that. The Krink on a 16" barrel is the stupidest fad to plague ARFCOM in a long time. No good can come from a half pound of dead weight on the end of a barrel that already has excessive dwell time. Skip it. |

+1 Krink FH are useful for SBR barrel lengths only Vortex or Panthom FS would be another suggestion. Have you decided what barrel will you get that would be within 1-1.5 MOA? Most production barrels would not guarantee that accuracy, you have to be lucky to get a chrome lined barrel that will be that accurate. Most of the members here are getting that accuracy from Denny's Operator mid length gas system, medium contour, chrome lined, 1/7 twist, Rock Creek blank barrels. They're not 1/9 twist but you could shoot heavier weight bullets if you decide to use them later on. OPERATOR BARRELS thread link |

I think a mid-length barrel would be a better choice for the role you're laying out. I also think HBAR is unnecessary. And I think the Armalite mid-length, chrome lined MEDIUM WEIGHT barrel ($190 from DSG Arms) would be a great choice. I just bought one for myself to build up a "multi-gun" carbine. The barrel is 1:9, chrome lined, and has a constant taper from .8-something at the chamber to .750 behind the gas block. It's going to have a DD 10.0 on it rather than the extra weight of a rifle forend. Optic will eventually be the new 3x Compact ACOG. |
I'll have to disagree with you on this. My RRA mid chromelined 1:9 does shoot premium ammo to the above specifications. In particluar it likes BHBB 52gr match, and BH 69 and 75 gr match. The 77's open up at 200 yds. Of course you qualified your statement with "most." I'll let it go. LittleLamb |

Well that will definately be a mid-range shooter (sub MOA capable), but are you ONLY planning to shoot off the pod? If not, that is going to be a beast for a general purpose type application...but if you are not looking for a GP rig then there you go. If you are interested in more of a GP rig, Sabre makes a 18" fluted 1/7 chromelined, 556 chamber, M4 extension, barrel with a mid-gas system. I am going to be using that barrel for a GP rig for a OIF Vet friend of mine. I have heard from arfcommers that use this barrel, it is the cat's ass. Oh, and yes you can shoot whatever you want out of that barrel. Wylde can shoot 223 or 556. |
