Who makes and or sells the best standard midlength handguards? and no RRA is not the answer.
I am looking at the Armalite and Cav Arms so far if anyone has any inputs. |

If you're not in a hurry wait until Jan 19th and see if you can "get moe". Don't tease me.....Are they really coming out in middy???? When Magpul reps were asked about it they simply said "Keep watching the website for updates" or something. We are speculating they will be revealed at the SHOT show. No-one knows anything for sure, we are just hoping. As popular as the middy's have became it would be dumb not to make them. |

The ArmaLite handguards are "good enough for government work", but aren't anything special. The fit (on my ArmaLite middy) is a little loose, too. You can rotate them about 1/8" either way.
BTW, is Magpul REALLY making mid-length MOE handguards, or is this a prank? |

Replaced my Armalite mid handguards with ones from Cav Arms. The Cav Arms don't have double heat shields, but the shields in them are more sturdy and hold up better than the armalites. Further, the lockup "lugs," for lack of a better term, where the handguards fit into each other on the Cav Arms are a lot beefier than the Armalites.
The MOE rumor sounds great, but if you want M4 style, look at the CavArms C6 or C8. Better then the factory armalites. |

I have the Rock River ones and the fit is great, but the heat shields are poorly attached and cheap ! I would say, too, that the fit of my RRA middy handguards is terrific. Much better than the C8 that I tried previously. The heatshields aren't all that great though. |

If you're not in a hurry wait until Jan 19th and see if you can "get moe". huh?? where did you see this info at? It's a guess/speculation. Nor did I say there were coming out, but that it might be prudent to wait until SHOT show to see what might be available. Despite being told last year that there were no plans for mid or rifle length MOEs, the public statements since then have me hopeful that it might be a possibility. As far as currently available handguards, the Cav ones are good, I like the smaller shape of the RRA but they don't seem as well made. |
