I'd like to build a 22 that matches one of my AR's as closely as possible. I'm thinking that similar/identical ergonomics would be good for practice and plinking. So what I'm looking for is a 16' lightweight mid-length. I was hoping to get a complete upper from CMMG but they don't have mid-length gas option. So here are my questions:
Does anyone have a complete light weight mid-length upper? Is there a light weight mid-length barrel with slow twist for 22? Are 22 conversions particular in terms of gas systems? Should I just go with the CMMG 16" with carbine length gas? Should or can I just build one? I think CMMG said they weren't their selling upper receivers (perhaps a back order situation?), only complete uppers? I'm only guessing about the "feel" difference between a carbine and mid-length. I'm guessing they'll balance differently. Perhaps my goal of getting identical handling rifles in is an exercise in futility? Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks for reading! |

How about a light weight rifle length FFT?

.22 dedicated uppers do not use gas to operate, the are blowback so it does not matter in reference to mid or carbine. you could build your own .22 upper to match your existing rifle pretty easily. A lot of info will come in for you, I'm sure. Check this post for now .22 barrels
It is all pretty simple to do or have done. And did I mention fun |
