I would really like to have a 607 in my collection, but with IA being a non-SBR state I cannot bring myself to build a 16" 607, they just don't look right. So after posting in jhud's post about the free HGs I got to wondering about this. Does anybody have a mid-length 607 with a permanently attached moderator (to make the barrel a legal 16") that they'd like to post pictures of?
Thanks. |

Here are the other threads on a midlength 607. I to am in a no SBR state, so I've been collecting threads for ideas... Midlength 607ish rifle? I'm looking for any info on triangular 607 hand guards... Short triangle hand guards |

I am in Iowa also and working on a 607,still looking for a rear HG cap. I am leaving mine at 16 inches and going to try to make a moderator to make it look kinda right,if not then its going to be 14.5 with a perm moderator installed to make it the legal length but really prefer to leave it at 16. Using my 80% lower that has been modified to partial fence. Stock with be standard length until I can afford the real thing. |

My best friend works at a welding shop, and he was showing me some of the things that can be done with a CNC machine. Again, I don't know if this would be too expensive or impractical, but maybe? |

You can use the regular 607 carbine rear cap. The handguards will need a modification. They will barely fit in the cap. You need to epoxy and pin a "lip" on the inside of the handguard at the rear. Cut up the leftover hg peices for the "lip". Send me the upper and I will do it for you. I even have the rear cap already. All I ask is permission to use pictures of the upper to advertise my work. I like using the rear half of the A1 handguard. This is one that I came up with using a special front cap (mated a 607 rear cap and round front cap)
My new version is going to be the same, but will use a standard triangle cap on the front, nothing on the rear. You all will like what I have in the oven. |

What is the length from the front side of the front cap, to the inside of the rear cap? (include the compression from the weld spring. It should be where the slip ring sits at the weld clip. Gee whiz I need a middy) if you're asking the length from the front of the cap to the front of the slip ring of an installed pair of mid length handguards.. it's 8 1/2 inches |

I am going to fab one up while working on Amish Bills mid-length upper. Once his is in my hand, I can determine the best way to go about this. Later..... gotta go recover a sunk truck from the mud. |

Yep, I want the rear cap too, just like the real deal. The only reason I want to build a mid-length 607, as I've said before, is to make it look better & more correct than a 16" 607.
Wasn't there another member working on doing exactly that, making a rear cap for mid-lengths? What about Total Silence? |

I have checked Total Silence,s site several times but no end caps shown on the site, not even the HG,s. Have checked around at other places and have found nothing so far. |

I asked edwin from TS about doing a rear cap for mid-lengths early in '08, and at that time he expressed an interest in doing them, but he didn't have a mid-length set up to take measurements from. so I sent him one, he had it about two months and after I reminded him he had my barrel , he finally sent it back with a bare aluminum pre-production single rib slip ring, but no rear cap. I e-mailed him about every two weeks or so, to check his progress of the cap, and after about a year of hearing it's "being worked on but it's not a priority" I finally gave up and I haven't heard from him since. |
