I'm building an upper with a 16" barrel that's drilled for a mid-length gas system.  I want to put a PRS stock on the lower.  Can anyone tell me if a standard rifle buffer and spring will allow the bolt to cycle properly, or do I need to use a carbine buffer/spring combo?  If I need the carbine buffer/spring, can they be used in a rifle buffer tube?

You need a rifle extension tube and rifle buffer/spring combo.

As a general rule, there is no relationship between barrel length or gas system length and buffer length.  Pick the barrel you want, pick the stock you want, then use the buffer system that matches the stock you've chosen.

Okay, thanks.  That keeps it pretty simple.
