Does anyone know what scope the military uses on their carbines?
Where can you get them? I was thinking that the military has many grips and scops available for the troops? Jeff |

Trijicon ACOG, Aimpoint, and EOTech are the main ones. I saw a few C Mores back in the day, haven't seen any lately. Seen a few Elcans too, very few. I've seen a few people in country with personal scopes, such as Leupolds. Rare to see anything but the stock grip on the M4 though. Stocks are generally either the standard M4, standard A2, or LMT Sopmod. Forends are usually either stock plastic or KAC railed. |

I just wanted to share what I've seen 1st Cav Soldiers and Airmen using on their M4s...
Army: What I mostly see... ACOGs: TA01NSN (with and without Doctor Optic) TA31F (with and without Doctor Optic) TA11F Aimpoint Comp M2 & Comp M4 I will see these every now and then... Eotech 552 & 551 Cmore ATAC Airforce (like the Security Forces here): Mostly Comp M2s and some TA01NSNs. Never really see any other kind of ACOGs other than the NSN model. Airforce JTACs (High Speed, Low Drag MF'ers): Leupold CQ/T Eotech 552, 551 and 512 (Not sure why they would issue a JTAC an Eotech that's not compatible with NVGs )
Comp M2 Elcan Spectre DR Various ACOGs Let's just say I am envious of the JTACs and the wide array of Optics they get issued. Out of all the JTACs I've met, most of them use and prefer their Eotechs. I like to get my Optics from Rainier Arms Nathan |

Nice pictures.
I want to outfit mine like a Mil style. Looks like the military lets the solders outfit their guns with different options, kinda custom for every soldure? Mine is an Amalite with a mid grip. I don't think the US army uses mid grip do they? Jeff |

Great info, thanks! Who makes the Mil fore grip? Knight's Armament Corp (KAC). Honestly, I don't care for it. Too fricken small for my hand, has no storage capability and no place for a tape switch. I do see a LOT of 1st Cav with Grip Pods. I prefer TangoDown's VFG. I've got about four of them on personal weapons and one on my issued weapon. I would like to Try Larue's Grip and will probably order one when I get back. Regards, Nathan |

If so, I recommend Daniel Defense or Larue Rail systems. I like my KAC M4 RAS, but there are better options out there. The Daniel Defense Omega Rail comes in a Midlength size and is user installed. Locks up solid and free floats the barrel. http://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=1077 Nathan |

It is the "US Army" as there is only 1 US Army just as there is only 1 US Navy or US Air Force. I see few KAS grips in use now. Every M4 MWS has a Grip Pod for it. It is up to the Soldier or unit SOP to determine if it is used. |

"Soldier", sp
My apologies..no disrespect intended, no offence, . I can't spell that great. Can't spell my middle name right half the time. My rifle is a 15A4CBA2 mid length. Guess I would need a carbine upper to get that military look. I may get a M&P 5.45 upper since I have a lot of low cost 5.45 ammo. That would be the carbine type. Jeff |

Does anyone have comments on this?
They guy said it is a clone. Says it is built well, feels real, and Functions the same. It does magnify 4x32. " It performs like/better than optics of its type. The big difference is looks like an ACOG and has all the branding and markings of one. " It has no tritium so it uses a battery to supply power to the illumination Any thoughts? http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=147935094 |

The real thing: son's M4 with the Aimpoint when he was deployed. http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p118/MDWINK/MichaelsM46-30-07b.jpg Nice, your son deployed with a CAA grip, CAA M44 railed forearm, G2 (think) white light, and I have no idea what that optic is from this view. I am glad to see the troops get to personalize their weapons. |
