So I"m waiting for my DSM-1 to arrive in the mail. I was looking at the Millet web site and see that they offer a scope mount riser and tactical scope rings. Why do we need a riser in the first place? If I use a riser which height tactical scope rings do I use. If I don't use a riser which tactical ring height would I need to get? Lastly has anyone used these products and where can I get them at a good price? Or should I buy the CAA mount?

I just don't want to spend a ton of money if I don't have to. i need it to buy my ammo

I already had a set of ARMS low rings, and I got a YMH riser/ rail extension. my total hight is 1.4 something and worked great a lot of guys go for one peice risers in the 1.5" range. Aim has a really cheap one but if I wanted quality and did not need to move the scope farther forward than the rail on the upper go with ARMS high rings or any high rings. Lots of people want the scoope moved to the front some because they are putting it on a m4 stock. YMH rail extension from brightflashlights was in the low 30s shipped. The YMH raises the rail .5 inches so you need 1" rings which are usually med.

Looks like aim is out of the riser/ extension

Id just cough up the cash for the LaRue SPR.  I doubt I would have bought one from the beginning, but LaRue gave it to me with the upper they gave me .  I am going to buy another of the exact mount when I buy a longer-range optic.  That way I can swap between the two and retain zero, all in a matter of seconds!

Those you using the SPR-E with the DMS-1, why?  I find the standard SPR gives me perfect eye relief from 1-2 clicks out, yet still works well with the stock full collapsed or fully extended.  I assume those of you using the SPR-E like to shoot with the stock fully collapsed?

The SPR-E is great for using it at 1x.

Always buy a good mount from the start. It'll last through all your changes of optic.
