Anyone know of a good manual operated mini milling machine to mill lowers with?

Plastic or aluminum?  A lot of folks seem to use a drill press, but it's apparently cumbersome.  I'm thinking of trying my blem EP w/ a Dremel & the drill press attachment.

Pretty much any.  The Harbor Freight mini-mills work fine with patience

Look for a used Bridgeport or something similar. You won't be happy for long with a mini mill. Buy once cry once. Be sure it has digital readouts in the x and y and a vari drive.

A used Bridgeport is great but kinda large for many small home shops. There are many of them available for a low price.

Check out  little machine shop

They have a mini mill that they have already done some of the most wanted upgrades. I think it is around $800.

Of course be aware you can/will spend a lot of $$ on tooling.

I agree. Although you can install your own DRO for not too much money (around $500).

If you don't have the room, or budget for this, check with your local trade school. I had a friend that enrolled nearly every year just so he could use their equipment. He never worried about his grade, he just went in there to build whatever project he was working on at the time. Just make sure you get it ok'd before you go walking in there with gun parts. :)

Another well made , made in the USA mini-mill, Check the Taig.
Here is mine.... CNC equipped.. But when First I purchased it, I had the manual handcranks installed.
They put the Stepper mount in a bag......

Good Luck,

Find a used Bridgeport, you won't regret it. Sometimes you can find collets, vises and tooling that someone will throw in with the deal too. A nice Kurt vise is what you're after to hold your parts and a set of clamps.
