What is the difference between a milspec buffer tube and a regular buffer tube???

My understanding is the commercial tube is slightly larger in diameter so they can meet export requirements.

The mil-spec is forged and thinner, and commercial is cast and thicker. Commercial is cast to cut down on costs i believe. I would go with the mil-spec since forged is stronger and more aftermarket buttstocks are available.

What's the difference between an arfcommer who uses the search function and one who asks the same question that gets asked and answer weekly?

and while I'm at it, here the difference between a standard and "F" marked FSB and a photo explanation of feedramps.

Oh, and 1/7 > 1/9

I have guns with both, make very little difference for the average civilian. I shoot both my guns probably more than most as I own rural land.  Just not worth losing sleep about either, they both do the job. You have to look at the fact that civilian AR15 guns are not the exact same copies of the M16.

I agree.  The difference is a non-issue for the overwhelming majority of us.  Also, I think the commercial versions are extruded, not cast.  I have no idea how strong a thicker extruded tube is compared to a thinner forged one.
