A factory fresh AR lower receiver that has never been part of a firearm can be used to build a pistol, carbine or rifle. If a lower receiver is built into and registered as a pistol first, it can be stripped down and converted into a rifle in the future. If the receiver built into a carbine or rifle first, it must always remain part of a rifle and cannot ever be used to build a pistol.

Markings don't really mean shit. Anyone can laser engrave "pistol" on a lower and still put a stock on that lower.

Colt can verify that. Contact them with the serial number and they can verify is it's ever been assembled into a complete firearm. If it has, don't make a pistol out of it.

Just use whatever light you want.  I don't understand people getting so caught up on being 100% anal about clone correctness.

Sameness is in the inherent definition of a clone. If one wants to settle for clone-like, then fine.

Well then if you don't have a Colt lower with FA or Select fire then none of the "Clones" here are correct.  I have a BA barrel, MRO,.and Recce 5 can.  So I am sameness correct.  Red dot optic, 556 suppressor, and 10.3" barrel.

I always assumed it was just a cqbr mk18 inspired thread with an emphasis on clone correctness. Never got the impression it was clone only or gtfo.

Mk18 I'm making is going to be inspired but I doubt I'll be going clone correct really.

Didn't mean for my light question to cause a riot .

On another note, I just went to check out the DD Socom stripped upper from Brownells and saw they are out of stock and no backorder.

Hope they get more in for my block II build...

That was all about an hour of searching got me.
I have a pretty old taupe that has no markings whatsoever and it is 100% legit.
I too have a non marked 99051.  It was mentioned/verified in the original Block II thread as well.
