Happy CQBR Valentine's Day! *romantic violin music plays*

So, I went out Sunday and put some lead in the air. Well, technically, I mostly put some bi-metal in the air, but we shant quibble over details. My bi-metal bullets identify as lead! Don't judge them!

Some rascals had posted up at my longer range spot, so I moseyed back to my "summer" spot that's about 50y max.

Still don't have any matching tactical towels, but at least they're generally a shade of green :\.

I grabbed one of the Brownells Retro A1 style grips just give it a try and slapped it on the CQBR. Kinda like.

Of course, I stopped on the way out to take a few scenery pics as the sun was setting for you heathens.

Swapping out the DD upper for Colt, and black rail for FDE. Barrel with 4p is going on M4a1. Getting closer to something resembling an actual "clone", lol.

You're telling me, lol. This GS mount is practically turning into an NFA item at this point. I actually have two on backorder: the original ordered all the way back on Black Friday and an X-Series/Scout slim mount from Brownells. Just got an email the other day from the first place and they're still waiting to hear back from their purchaser if they can even get them or what the deal is. I'm just treating it like my SOCOM RC - try to forget about it and when it finally shows up it'll be a nice surprise, heh.

And it's all fun and games 'til summer hits... then you have a heat stroke in the middle of the scenery ;p.

There are plenty of head scratchers in the NSW TMs...one of the Mk12 pubs has a diagram showing a Mk11 front sight and the NF 3.5-15x50 as the issued scope...the Mk14 Mod 1 lists a pair of scope rings "only issued with the Mod 1" but were only issued with the Mod 0.  Most dudes don't even read these anyway...

1/16" is .0625" and the port on an older DD is about .080" so that makes sense. Should fit the Colt too unless the end is peened over.

Same here. A while back I picked up 2 FDE RIS II. One was brand new, dark chocolate. The other was used and had that hint of bronze, with a few dings and scratches. Part of me wanted everything brand spanking new, but in the end I ditched the new one in favor of the old. "They sure don't make them like they used to."

Well, guess my Mk 18/CQBR journey has begun. Just bought one of the AU Socom RCs in FDE.

I don't even have any other Block II parts

I do have a good many for the Block I, so I'll probably throw the RC on that until I can pony up for an NT4.

Question. As far as UID labels go, they would be clone correct for a CQBR but not a mk18 mod 0 right? New at the cloning game but I have most of everything else figured out. I have seen pictures of "mod 0's" with UID's but figured they were referring to a block 1 or 1.5. Hoping someone can help clear the air on this.

Either way, it should technically fit, but it isn't. The punch isn't in pristine condition, but I'm not 100% sure it would fit if it was.

https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/260264/LRM_EXPORT_20180216_082227-453357.JPG

I'm betting either the diameter of the punch is off slightly, or that little dent at the tip is making more of a difference than I thought. Either way, I guess the picture was just to show the visual differences between the two sizes.

Edit: And yes, this IS making me want to buy a set of Mitutoyo's, in case you were wondering, lol.
View Quote
I hate to say it, but are you sure that port has been opened up? Maybe the punch is just oversized, but otherwise it would appear the gas port is .062-.063 and not .070. Could always check it against a different punch or verify the punch size via some calipers.
