I have a Model1 6.8SPC and it will not feed Silver State ammo, but it will feed Remington ammo. Anyone know why? Is there a fix for this problem? When I try to load SSA ammo it wont load and it pushes the bullet into the case.

Does it have feed ramps?

Do you have a set of calibers?

You might take an overal length measurement of the Rem ammo and then one for the SSA ammo, if theres no difference or the difference is so slight it shouldnt matter...back to the drawing board.  See that the COAL is and get back to us!! Were here to help (most of us anyways).

The only thing I see is that the Blue Box SSA stuff is a much fatter? looking bullet

Without extended feed ramps on the upper receiver, you basically have zero chance of the flat-nose Xtreme bullets feeding reliably. My Stag 6.8SPC carbine had the same problem - no feed ramps, no feed Xtremes.

You can try to modify the feed lips on your 6.8 mags so the rounds sit up higher, but this is an iffy proposition at best - works for some people, not for others.

I had to do two things to get SSA extremes to feed in my M1sales upper:

1) slightly bend the leading edge of the feed lips on my magazines up. Very slightly. This allows the bullets to sit a bit more nose high up in the magazine. Do not bend the lips on the magazine near the base of the cartridge.

2) slightly dremel and polish the upper receiver to match up with the feed ramps in the barrel. The barrel has nice ramps, but the upper did not. This took about 20 minutes of grind/polish/check/repeat to get working right.

Feeds great now.

So I need to stay away from the Barnes X-treme bullets, any other rounds have issues?

We have stopped selling the Xtreme bullets as some weapons have issues with it. These are not Barnes projectiles. Just return them to us and we will replace them with Pro-Hunters which will work well.

listen to Art.   I had exactly the same problem with the Extreme bullet in my M1S.  Now, I shoot the Sierra Pro Hunters, and they are accurate, and they are one of the few bullets made for 6.8 SPC which are a jacketed soft-point design:

thus, they expand reliably at ranges of 0-400 yards or so, and more importantly, if you hunt with them, they retain a large percentage of their original weight.  This is something that the VMax, or HPBT won't do, as they are designed to break apart on impact.

Hope this helps

You're still making the Barnes XXX load right?  I just ordered my 6.8 spc parts (for deer/pig) believing that there would be a factory all copper bullet round available...

The place where I normally go to hunt have decreed no more lead bullets.

I hope I didn't go down the wrong route!
