Has anyone used Model 1Sales parts  in a build and have any recommendations.  They have a XM177 upper that I like but I don't know anything about the company.

I have done a few builds with their parts. They all turned out ok and functioned without issues.

They have had in the past issues with their CC data being compromised.  If they visit a gunshow in your area that way is the least risky.

I've built on their M-4 kit and the only down side is it doesn't seem to like steel.  I've polished the chamber and it's running much better.

Well now I am not to interested in this company .  So let me ask does anyone know who makes XM177 type uppers.  This type weapon was the hot weapon when I served during the Vietnam War era, so I would like to built a retro copy.

My Model 1 7.5" upper with chromed BCG and chamber has never failed me. My Ceiner kit never jams while in this particular weapon.
Never had any CC issues.
The bad press has me concerned though.

From the picture in the ad they have in Shotgun News, it appears they use an A2 receiver in their XM-177 upper.  If you want to go with something more true to the original, go with an A-1 upper.  Nodak Spud makes a couple different retro style uppers, as well as lowers, and Fulton Armory sells an old style M-16 style upper with no forward assist or shell deflector.

This post is really more suited to the retro forum rather than the build it yourself forum. Maybe you'd get more support over there with the retro pros.

Be prepared to wait 5-6 months to get your parts. Election coming up and last time it took them 6-8 months to fill orders. Pretty sure people are stocking up right now.

I bought an assembled upper w/ 20" barrel from them at a gun show a few years ago.  First time I shot the rifle it worked fine.  Couple weeks later, it won't hold zero (iron sights).  After checking every thing I could think of, my buddy asks if I'd checked the barrel nut.  Sure enough, it was loose.  Gun shoots well (& holds zero) since.

I'm not suggesting this is Model 1's fault- I've since purchased other quality stuff from them.  Just make sure you thoroughly inspect any assembly put together by someone else.
