Are their uppers good?
I just finished building a rifle from their parts. I am extremely pleased with what they sold me. Mine has only seen Russian ammo in it and the only problem was from a stuck case where that resin melted from the rounds. Otherwise, their bolt/bolt carrier slid right in to their upper and went bang from the first trigger pull.
I bought a XM177 Style C.A.R. Upper from M1S several months ago. It jammed on the second shot, and since then I have put several hundred rounds through it without a problem. My only complaint is the upper came with M4 ramps but they put a standard barrel extension on it.
I bought a 20inch about 3-4 months ago and the original upper had a block in the gas tube.. sent it back and they promptly sent another one. This one has seen good and wolf type ammo without any problems yet. I only have maybe a 100 or so rounds through it. I am happy so far. I have a 16 inch from M&A on the way so i will post the differences if any.
There's another post on M1 sales a little further back, I bought a 24" A4 varmit upper about 18 months ago, mounted a 6-24 scope, haven't gone past 300 yards much but it'll put 10 rounds through a dime at 300. I think thats pretty good. Just did order an A2 20" upper, now it takes 2 months to get it (my varmit upper took about 1-1/2 weeks). looking forward to seeing how the A2 does.
I have a 20" model 1 that shoot great. Never had a problem with it, and it holds good groups (less than 1 MOA with good ammo, if I do my part) It will hold 2 moa all day long with brown bear, and 2.5 moa with wolf. I think that their uppers are hard to beat for the price. Their lower parts kits are a little on the rough side, however.
