| Has anyone had any experience with the A2 uppers / A2 upper assemblies, sold by Model 1? |
|
I haven't messed with them in several years but I've had to correct the FSB cant on two of their uppers for friends. One was canted 14 clicks left and the other was 12 clicks right to zero gun. Barrels did shoot good though, I wouldn't turn one down if the price was right.
LPK's needed a little file work to remove some burrs too. Old Marine

I have a used M!S 20 inch A2 upper that I used for a recent appleseed shoot. I didn't have a single issue with the rifle. It's on an anderson lower receiver. I just recently bought another m1s at Knob Creek. 10 1/2 pistol upper. I'll know more on it this week as the pistol buffer stuff will all be done.

I emailed them asking if they had their 20" A2 upper receiver in stock and I received an auto reply thanking me for my order and that it will be XX amount of weeks before I receive it.
I ended up buying a stripped A2 upper off the EE here and a 20" flat top upper from PSA. |

The set of A2 rifle handguards I got from Model 1 were complete garbage.
Flimsy,thin,low-grade plastic that would lose it's shape just by squeezing lightly in your hand. Probably would have shattered into a million pieces if any more pressure was applied. They told me "Too Bad" when I complained about the shitty materials used,so now they can go fuck themselves. |
| As mentioned, their stocks and handguards are of poor quality - they get them from the worse of the two makers - definitely not mil spec. I do buy some small parts from them, but not critical assemblies. have seen OK work from them and canted FSB work from them. They did make the canted FSB right, but I'd advise caution, and not buy anything major by mail. |

They had a government profile, 20", with 1/7 twist. Now that option is gone. So I guess I won't do this. I really want a 20" A2 clone, so I'll keep looking. Still listed sorry cant hot link from my phone. ER Shaw barrels do shoot but for the price you can buy a colt or FN just take some looking to find one http://www.model1sales.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=360 |

I built a dozen rifles using their parts kits about 20 years ago - FN mil-spec manufacture w/ Shaw barrels. Every one ran like a Swiss watch. I still have two - a 20" std A2 and a 16" CAR w/ A1 upper. Accuracy is only fair - maybe 2MOA with the 20" and 1.5MOA for the 16". No complaints regarding fit or function though.
Personally, for a basic rifle, I'd sooner buy a new DPMS or equivalent then build one these days. You can get a new gun cheaper than building it, and it is warrantied. |
