This has been hashed out over and over... do a search for model 1 as the subject line... Just one of many threads on the matter The thread above is typical of the banter. I for one have bought and assembled two Mod 1 kits, and bought and assemebled all he parts from RRA... RRA is definately superior stuff. One Mod1 kit came with a bent Bolt Hold Open... replaced it with a RRA. I sold one of the Mod1 kits soon after completeing the build (he just had to have an AR right then! something funny about folks who see you got something they don't) to a friend who had occasional jams... he shoots a lot. It could be the cheap ammo, or it could be the upper. Also his rear sight has the counter clock wise twist... the RRA I built does not. The Mod 1 build upper has the front sight canted as you have to move the rear sight about half of the left travel available to center it (yes I know how to fix it, but its not my rifle anymore). My RRA build is two clicks left of center.... You'll chase your tail on this forever if you want... price vs quality... you get what you pay for. Tom |
| Two Model 1 kits...no problems whatsoever. I bought basic A2 kits (20" and 16") so maybe there are more problems with more exotic versions. I have not noticed any difference in quality in the parts I got from Model 1 and three recent RRA lower parts kits and bolts. I don't doubt those who do report problems, but I do think it's possible to have problems from any maker, maybe less so with some of the premium makers. |
