Oh boy, get ready. Personally, I've had good luck with them, I ordered a 11.5" upper from them around 3 years ago, ran the everliving snot out of it, carbine courses, machinegun shoots etc, no problems whatsoever. Still running strong. Is it Mil-Spec stuff? Not all of it. I could not get a Mil-Spec firing pin retainer in the carrier, the hole was too small. Called Model-1, and they immediately sent me a few replacements, problem solved. But, I'm sure you'll hear more horror stories. You'll see a bunch of "My bolt broke in half" stories, but IIRC that is an old problem with them thatr has since been corrected. |

There's nothing wrong with thier products with the exception that they run the wrong twist rate in their 6.8 SPC bbls.
I've got three uppers from them in different caliburs that I have shot the hell out of with no issues what so ever and I get very good accuracy. The only problem you may have with them is the wait on back orders. They are a fairly small operation and the current rush on AR stuff have them swamped. 6 month waits are not unheard of lately but it should be getting better as they catch up. MLG |

I have two Model 1 Sales barrels running in two builds. Great barrels. Tack-drivers each.
There are some who have a complete mental-meltdown over Model 1 Sales, a very few who bash Model 1 Sales with every fiber of their being, kinda' creepy whenever those few chime in. I also have: 1) Model 1 Sales standard charging handle, no problems. 1) Model 1 Sales carbine standard handguards, no problems. 1) Model 1 Sales 4 position stock, no problems. Great complete set with tube, buffer, spring, lock nut, and plate-$42.00. |
| lots of opinions about them, my experience was positive, and got a good quality reliable rifle. Thousands of happy customers, hundreds of unhappy ones. And some credit card problems. And a long wait. Heres a link to a tell all thread, if you have a couple days to read it.Read All About IT! |

I had an order sitting with them from back in October. Fast forward to July - I still don't have my upper and I can never get a hold of them (phone is always busy). The entire time, I was getting phone calls and e-mails from buddies saying, "Hey, I'm at a show - Model 1 Sales is selling a couple of kits just like the one you wanted!" I would also hear from folks who finally received their order, but were absolutely awestruck by the poor craftsmanship.
There's some folks out there that love their M1S... but I canceled my order and will not do business with them. Didn't a disgruntled customer beat up the M1S owner? |

Built an A2 Dissipator with a Model 1 kit (Essential lower). Ordered the kit in Dec 2008, received it in April 2009. Credit card was not charged until they shipped it.
It is very accurate, and runs flawlessly (so far). The only complaint I have is that the trigger is creepy, and a bit heavy. Time for a 25 cent trigger job. All parts fit as intended. Overall fit and finish is just fine. Added an ambi selector/safety (lefty), a winter trigger guard, and a Zahal sling. Overall, it's a great KISS rifle. All in all, I'd do it over again. Maybe I was just lucky. Would advise calling to check wait times. Disclaimer: I am not a SWAT team member or Mall Ninja, nor am I in Iraq or Afghanistan. The rifle does not have a million trouble-free rounds through it, just a couple thousand (trouble-free). I do not need to depend on the rifle for mission-critical tasks. |

I have one of their uppers (7.62X39) and one of their complete kits (less lower receiver) in 5.56 & both have run just about flawlessly (save some mag issues with the 7.62 setup which I have resolved). Both are dead-nut accurate. I've used the 5.56 gun in a carbine course & she didn't huccup once. Round count for this one is near 4000. The 7.62 is my 3-gun 'toy' & I've got more that 2000 rounds through her. I have added Bravo Company extractor upgrades to both the bolts, but that's about it.
I did all my busness with them before the "Obama frenzy" on 08-09 and service & delivery was excellent! Of course, as always, YMMV! Old SF MJT |
