I filed some off the top of the front sight post to have more elevation room because it was almost bottomed out to get a 50y zero. |

I just got back from shooting it and I sure can notice the difference between it and my mid weight mid gas rifle. |

Hmm, debating if I should piece together an A1 upper receiver with a colt 14.5 barrel with an f marked fsb. I have an extra non f marked, standard height fsb in my parts drawer.
Do you guys think it's worth the trouble swapping out the f marked fsb wih a non f marked one, or just leave the colt fsb in place? |
no. the F is for the carbine not just flat top. the original carbines had a .040 taller sight post. the F sight base is .040 taller and takes a regular post. if your post on the F sight base is to tall just file it shorter or buy a shorter post. if they make one. pinning a front sight base on the barrel will be allot harder. if you screw up the post your out what $5

Sorry to threadjack, but I've been looking for something like this for a while. As for the OP, I love that combination of A1 and new parts. Is that a 1x12 barrel or 1x9? |

Sorry to threadjack, but I've been looking for something like this for a while. As for the OP, I love that combination of A1 and new parts. Is that a 1x12 barrel or 1x9? The optic is a TA01 ACOG. It is mounted to the carry handle using a specially designed screw and washer that is included with purchase. Yes you can still use the irons although, when mounted in the rear most slot (as I have done) the ACOG is very close to the aperture. This prohibits me from switching to the larger peep. The barrel is a 1/7 twist. Since the last picture I've changed the handguards to MOE's and had the stock chopped. |

ETA: And on an unrelated note: I just love the way the MOE handguards dissipate heat from only the top vents. The mirage is a little distracting indoors, but is not as noticable outdoors. I constantly switch between the MOE and standard handguards. I put the standard ones on at home because I love the way it looks and switch to the MOE when I go shooting. |

Any thoughts on optic options? I see some are running a carry handle mount. How is the cheekweld? I'm considering a cantilevered mount but I don't know if I'd like full cowitness.
I didnt like the optic way up on a carry handle mount. I mounted my optic on the quad rail out front. Full cowitness is not that bad, but it does take some getting used to. However, I'm sure its not for everyone. I have since taken the optic completely off, and I just roll with my irons. Much better.

how does that micro work on the goose-neck? I was thinking of going that way but i thought it may need a riser because it may be to low.
