I found this in another thread, and a few users asked how/what the owner did, but I didn't notice a response from him on the subject after going through about 30 pages. Obviously I'd have to cut an AFG, but I thought it had an interchangeable piece on the angled part, which is where my question comes in. How would I go about cutting an AFG like this? Is the interchangeable piece lower on the grip? If not, how does it get secured? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading |

i have an afg2 that i modded like that. i don't use mine with a vfg though. it's just cutting grinding and sanding. the interchangeable piece is held into place by the 2 sides clamping together around it , i use the a2 nubbin in mine. Thank you for the reply. I've never seen an afg in person so I was pretty confused. I think I'll be ordering one soon and trying this. |
| Hey guys, sorry I hadn't been on this site in a while. I cut the AVG behind that piece that can be swapped out, so it is still there. I used a combination of hacksaws and dremmel attachments with a lot of fitting along the way. Files and sandpaper at the end to finalize the shape and get it as close to a perfect fit as I could. I love it. For the way I hold my rifle it is extremely comfortable. The whole setup has been swapped over to my SBR now. |

Do you put your thumb on top of your rail? Are you still able to do that, or how do you hold this with the vertical grip? I'm really intrigued by this. Might grab a second AFG and a Magpul vert grip. Not cutting my one AFG and using my TangoDown grip. |

I don't use the thumb over hold, does not work for me. My hold on the rifle looks like this, puts my thumb in east reach of the tailcap of the light http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7120/6861547874_e45db8e800_b.jpg How does that feel any different than just with the AFG? Not trying to be a smart ass but thats how i hold my rifle, and i cant imagine it being too drastic of a difference of just the AFG by itself. |

That is an AFG1 obviously. I had to trim the top edges a bit to get it to work with the rail covers. Right, I said both due to me being undecided on which one I want to get. Thanks for the pics, that helped me out on deciding on parts. I'm looking at getting a DD LITE 7.0 for my 7.5" upper build but undecided on my 10.5" upper build (back and forth on the 9.0 and the 10.0). BTW: Your guns be pretty.

Yea, that's the reason I was looking at the 9 inch LITE rail. I know that there are hardly any suppressors out there that will fit inside DD's 1.2'' ID for the LITE rails, so go a little shorter and have the room. Or else choose a different rail system. Which speaking of that, anyone know which rail is in this pic? Edit: Remington RAHG. Available for .mil or .leo purchase only. UGHHHH!!!! http://www.advanced-armament.com/assets/images/button-mini7.jpg Looks like the same one in these too. http://www.advanced-armament.com/assets/images/silencers_featured_762.jpg http://www.advanced-armament.com/assets/images/button-mk13sd.jpg that looks like it might be a monolithic upper |
|
I found out they sell it as three different things. Mono upper AR15 style rifle , Non-mono Ar10 style rifle and just the rail.
First pic: Rifle Second pic: Sniper rifle Third pic: Rail Still thinks it's bullsh*t that the cool sh*t they make is not open for civis. Guess I'll have to go to the police academy and become an armorer to be able to order the rail and it suspiciously disappear. |

Very nice and subdued! Noticed the Loctite blue on the afg clamp nut and others, well done. |

There is a company that sells AR accessories with rit dyed designs on it, but then there is also a place that laser etches it on there. |

lol...thanks. Only one of them is mine now, had to sell the 16". That one is a 10.3" barrel. I wanted teh Mk18 rail which is 9.5" but they were out at the time. The 10" doesn't leave enough room to mount a supressor... being as handy as you are with a dremel and files... nice concept on merging an afg and vg, it is practical. |
