I have a 20" HBAR complete upper, but want to swap to the 16" barrel.  From what I've found, I can get a 16" barrel assembly from Bushmaster or Armalite for $222 or less.  Will the bolt from the HBAR work with the new barrel?  The HBAR has not been fired very many times.

Yes Giff-
Bolts will swap with a new barrel no problem as the other "old" barrel was nearly new as well.

Just need another gas tube, handguards, handguard cap and that should be about it besides what you can use off the other barrel.

Good luck

Don't forget to check headspacing IAW the tech manual. Use the field gauge and the go / no-go gauges.
You don't want a ka-boom now, do you?

Head on over to the old AR15 site and download the manuals if you don't have them.
You will want the FM 23-9, TM 9-1005-319-10 and the TM 9-1005-319-23.
The Marine Corps tech manual 05538C-23&P2 is good too, it's not on this site.

They are listed under "downloads".

What about issues of carry handle/sight compatabilities.  The barrels I'm looking at are either the Bushmaster M4 or teh Armalite 16".  Will the front sights be compatible with the Colt carry handle?  This post makes me question this:

Any info here would be great!

Also, thanks for the info that was already provided!!
