You've gotta be kidding me. You will get 100 different answers from 100 different people on this. Recommended brands that you generally can't go wrong with: RRA, Bushmaster, Colt, Armalite, Stag/CMT, LMT I also like DPMS but some people don't. Stay away from Vulcan at all costs. The bottom line is that any well-made weapon that is properly cleaned and maintained will be reliable. The biggest factor in the reliability equation is you, not the rifle. A good one. Like any other mass manufactured machine, each part has tolerances, plus or minus. Usually all the tolerances average each other out and you get a pretty good machine. Occassionally all the tolerances stack in a bad way and you get a lemon. Sometimes the tolerances stack just right and you get a gem. I think any quality name brand AR can hit the whole range. The higher dollar brands or custom makers might enhance your odds by giving you a little more QA for the buck, but all the different ARs are fundamentally similar. |
+1 The nice thing about the respected, major manufacturers is that if you do happen to get a rare lemon, they will take care of it promptly. |
