Is a mount needed for an Eo Tech sight in order to raise it above the front sight.

If you want absolute co-witness, you don't need a mount.

If you want lower 1/3rd co-witness, you need to raise it a bit with a mount.

Still burn through the FSP.  Much better to raise it over with the Larue.

I mount them directly to the flattop rail.  The Front Sight Base doesn't bother me at all.

Just bought a Larue riser yesterday; heard nothing but good things about it and wanted raised a little bit mroe than the stard flattop. If the riser is asa good as the rest of their stuff, I will be excited!
