New to the forum and new to AR ownership.  Picked up a Barrett REC7 DI this afternoon in 556.  I have not decided what glass I wan to put on this rig so for now I am going to mount a Leupold 1 1/2 X 6 VX3 I have in the safe.  Looking for a reasonably priced mount  in 1".   I will most likely end up with a 30mm scope so I do not want to invest to many $$ in this mount.  Suggesting.

Get a good 30mm cantilever mount and use the 30"" to 1" ring reducer inserts from GG&G.  You can get them through Amazon.  They work well for using 1" scopes in 30mm rings.  That way you can get the mount you want and not waste money on a temporary solution.

GG&G 30mm Inserts

For fixed mounts look at Leupold Mark 2 IMS or Aero Precision.

For true return to zero QD mount look at Larue's LT-104 SPR 1.5 or ADM's Recon mount.

Thats a good suggestion.  Might be a good option.   Still looking for brand suggestions if I decide to go with something in 1".

I was in the same boat, thinking I would likely upgrade from my 1" Weaver V3 to something in 30mm. I picked up a used Larue Tactical LT-104 in 30mm off the equipment exchange, then ordered Larue's 30 to 1" reducers and some other gear. Love it, and if I upgrade I'm only really 'out' the cost of the reducers and didn't have a crappy mount in the meantime.
