I just bought two Vortex PST scopes. One is going on a Scar 17s and the other on my varmint AR15. They both have 30mm tubes.
First dilemma I'm having is deciding if I want a quick release mount of normal mount. Second dilemma is finding something that isn't $200 per mount. I just spent 2 grand on glass so I'd like to find a cheaper mounting option. Any help would be great, keep in mind that I will probably add offset red dots to both weapons in the future. Also, I do have an Eotec that will be used on the Scar from time to time. My apologies if there is another post out there like this one, I haven't been on the site in a while but I did search and didn't find anything. If there is point me in the right direction and I'll delete this one Thanks for the help. ADDED* besides Larue and American Defense, what are good companies to stick to? |

Dont skimp too much on the mounts, or your 2k in optics wont be worth much :)
Buying a quality name brand mount used from the EE is a good option to save some cash. Sounds like a QD mount is a good idea for your SCAR, since you may swap between a scope and a red dot down the road. The other rifle probably doesnt need a QD mount unless you're worried about a broken or failed scope and quickly switching to backup irons or something. |

Thanks for the advice. I did decide to spend the money on a good mount since I spent the money on scopes.
Any advice on what manufactures to stick to? Besides the equipment exchange is there any websites with good deals? I'm not cheap just appreciate a good deal. Also, I know this isn't a SCAR forum but does anyone know if a mount with an offset would be better or worse then one without? |
