My friend just purchased a used RRA lower that appears to be assembled correctly. It seems to work properly off of the upper. When he attaches it to his upper, it will fire and the trigger locks until the safety is cycled from fire to safe then back to fire. It will then fire once more, extract, load another round before the trigger locks again. Come someone suggest where we should look? Thanks in advance.

If the lower was purchased used, there is a chance that whomever sold it switched out the FCG prior to selling it. They may have installed one of the springs incorrectly. If it were new and assembled correctly, I would suspect a burr or other imperfection in the metal on either the hammer hook or disconnector hook.

I had a very similar problem with a RRA fire control group as well.

Here is a link to me figuring it out on a hometown shooting site:  Link with pics and video

Let me know if you can't access it.

Thought that this was a done deal, but if not, then only a little late to the party.

Remove the FCG from the lower, then start off by dry fitting the trigger and disco to the pin.  Both should rotate on the pin without binding.

Next, run your fingernail down both the rear hammer sear, and the disco sear and feel for edge burs that may not be allowing a clean release of the two at trigger release.

Before reinstalling the FCG, check to confirm that the grip screw has it's washer, and that the tip of the grip screw is not protruding into the bottom of the receiver void.

Now CLP lube all the FCG, including the pins,  and reinstall the FCG.

I have included the link (above in red, so just click on it), but will point out that the disco spring should be installed large coil side down into the back trigger slot under the disco.

Also, here is a better photo of the springs instead, and make sure that you have the hammer spring installed with the legs coming out the bottom, then legs installed on the top of the trigger pin sides.

Thanks for the responses. Apparently it was the notched hammer. I replaced the notched hammer with a un-notched hammer and the lower works fine. I knew some 22 and 9 mm uppers wouldn't work with a notched hammer, but this one was a 5.56.
