| Recently bought a 6.8mm upper and i own 4 different style muzzle breaks for the 5.56/.223. Can the 5.56/.223 be drilled out to fit the 6.8? Are the threads the same? I cant find a variety of any sort that for the 6.8. Thanks. |

Maybe, likely not. One of my 6.8s uses the 1/2 x 28 thread but most now use 5/8 x 24. Some FS can be drilled, some cannot. YHM Phantoms can be drilled easily, VORTEX are hard as rocks and it takes carbide bits to cut them.
You are going to have to find out what your particular rifle is threaded to but more than likely it is 5/8 x 24 and you will have to use the .30 caliber FS. Most .30 cal FS can be used on the 6.8 with no issues at all. I am not aware of any specific FS or breaks are are for only the 6.8 but you can buy a Shrewd in the correct thread pitch and have it bored to .040 over bullet diameter if you want a closer fitting FS or break, but a .30 cal FS/break is close enough. |

I bought the Levang Linear Compensator -Ultimate AR15 Muzzle Brake AR-15 Comp. I love this one, it throws the sound and the flash forward out of the scope and makes it tolerable to shoot without ear plugs..I also just bought the BattleComp 2.0 SCV Black Oxide Battle Comp AR15 AR-15. Its ok, pricey, pretty loud but it will keep the flash out of the scope also and recoil minimal..
The one i want to put on the 6.8 is the Tromix Shark Muzzle Brake. I have not got it in yet but i will let you know how it does. |
