After months of searching through this forum and going to several stores I finally am the proud owner of my first AR! I ended up going with the Colt LE6920 FDE and I have to say it looks so beautiful.

I hope to get it out to the range tomorrow!

Congratulations, enjoy it.  Good first choice.

I'm not one of the Colt fanboys but, you really can't go wrong buying a Colt.

Congrats and nice looking first AR!

Before you shoot it make sure you remove all factory preservative lube and reapply new lube, I would suggest SLiP 2000 EWL.

It won't be your last Colt, I started with one a long time ago (4 decades) and now still have 5 Colt AR.

I was going to wipe down the BCG and run a few dry patches through the bore and then re oil with the CLP I have, is that all that needs to be done before I shoot? This is my first AR so I don't want to make any mistakes.

Clean the AR as normal prior to your first shoot. Also give it a thorough inspection for damages/defects.

You have to remove the factory lube with a solvent like I use SLiP 2000 725 Gun Cleaner/ Degreaser or Birchwood Casey Gun Scrubber (Firearm Cleaner) or any equivalent cleaning liquid.

Here's a link to the Maintenance & Cleaning forum, lots of instructions and tips there:

An excellent first choice AR.   Take the time to take it down and clean and re-lube before you shoot.

Heck , you don't know,  spiders might be living inside the barrel.

post the results of the first range trip.

Not a huge Colt fan.

Colt seems to get a bad rap (sometimes deservedly so) for their fit and finish....

....But I must say........The new anodized Colt's look AMAZING!!!

I am not a fan of colored guns (FDE, OD Green, etc).....But, if I were in the market for a Colt it would definitely be one like yours.  For whatever reason these new Colts with the colored anodizing really do it for me.

Your rifle looks great.  I'm sure it will serve you well.

Congrats! You won't regret it. I picked up the same gun a couple of months ago because of the color. I went through around a thousand rounds without any hiccups...

Me over Labor Day Weekend in the Uintahs.
