Is the DPMS detachable carry handle a good choice, and can a NM Rear Sight be installed that will function with quarter click adjustments.

I think for the right price DPMS is pretty good, assuming 5.56 and chrome barrel.
How much and more details as well.  Congrates on the new addiction.

It looks like the DPMS detachable carry handle will cost a little under seventy dollars. My lower receiver is made by DPMS so that is a small part of the attraction.  We purchased my kit from M&A two weekends ago from Pam at a gun show. I wanted to get the 20 inch / 5.56 upper with a stainless steel barrel (1-8 twist rate) with the dcm free float hand guard.

I could have played the waiting game but figured it was better to leave the show with a kit than to hold onto a promise. I call it "Obama Insurance".

So, I ended up with a Wilson (1-9 twist rate) chrome molly barrel without the dcm free float hand guard. My friend bought the free float hand guards separate from his kit because they did not have a complete upper on hand in the configuration that he had wanted. If he is able to install that option then he will do the same on my upper.

The kit cost me five hundred dollars. I have the rigid standard USGI black stock. My friends did all of the dealing. They can speak AR-15easy as a second language. We ended up buying two or three kits, a free float hand guard, a RRA two stage trigger, and one complete upper as a package.

All I need to get now is the detachable carry handle, a sling, and (4) twenty round magazines. I have an account with Brownells so I thought that I would get these goodies from them but everything except for the slings seems to be out of stock.

(I just got the word that my order for the DPMS detachable carry handle should be filled mid January 2009. The magazines might be available at the end of February 2009). Until I get the magazines all I  have is a pile of pretty parts.

My question is: Can you even install a NM Rear Sight on a detachable carry handle. Are the manufactures behind the learning curve because of the recent change in CMP Match Rules that now allow the entry of flat tops with detachable carry handles. It looks like as a stop gap measure that the manufactures offer a NM Rear Peep but then you do not have the quarter click adjustments.

Can anyone give me the skinny about the NM Rear Sights.
