Hello all. I've wanted to buy an AR for several years and I have finally done it. I couldn't be happier about my purchase! I bought a flat top bushmaster with collapsable stock. Looking at bushmasters website as close as I can tell it's an "M4 Type Patrolman's"...although that one is listed under the L.E. sales section...so who knows. Either way it has a picatinny rail mounted carry handle and a collapsable stock. I'm going to shoot it "as is" for a little while, but I'm already window shopping for how I want to outfit it. Anyway, just saying hello. Here's a pic:

Congrats on the new member of the family!

brd= black rifle disease . it starts as a small itch then eventually turns into a full blown rash . no gun safe is big enough to cure it.
the statement about shooting the rifle as is for a while is probably one of the smartest things you can do . buiy ammo and mags and shoot away .practice makes perfect.

Nice rifle! I think you have the right idea about shooting it as-is for now. Basic no-frills carbines are my favorite kind of ar-15; enjoy the rifle!

Yup, there's no cure for it!

Very nice, and welcome Both of my Bushmasters are Patrolman's Carbines-I haven't had a lick of trouble with either. Keep it well lubricated and it will outlast your grandchildren.

Thanks for sharing the pic.

Ah yes, Black Rifle Disease indeed. I fear I've been infected for a while but now I think it's terminal!!!  Sad thing is I haven't even gotten to shoot it yet, although my Dad and I are planning to hit the range Friday (he has an AR as well). Can't wait.
