Sweet build! I normally step into these threads expecting to see a bunch of cheap chinese parts (not that theirs anything wrong with a budget first build), but you went all out! Very nice build. I do have one question, who mount the bipod that far back? Thank you! I wanted to keep the feet of the bipod behind the muzzle and where I mounted it, when folded, the feet are pretty much at the muzzle. Going to see how I like it there. I did talk to the guys at GG&G about mounting the bipod backwards and they said that wouldn't be a problem so if I don't like it where I have it I may move it to the end of the handguard and mount it backwards so the legs fold back towards the receiver. |

Very nice! Have you shot it yet?
My first build is in the works... 18" as well. I'm about half way done but only 1/3 of the price in . Having trouble figuring out what gas tube/block and buffer system to run on it which is only part of the reason I joined ARFCOM. This website has taken over my life for the last couple of weeks. It's almost as bad as the google homepage games.
Congratulations on your build! Now you have to post some grouping pics! I think that's how it's supposed to work. |

My prefrence for gas tube/block and buffer on most rifles: Spikes nitride gas tube YHM 9383 gas block (assuming you want a free float rail over your gas block) H buffer |
| All my 18's are rifle gas (well I do have a 308 18' that's mid gas - I got it cheap for a bump gun where more gas is better). I normally use an H or H2 buffer if I use a carbine stock and a standard rifle buffer if I use a rifle stock. IMO the muzzle break/flash hider normally makes more difference than the buffer weight. |

Congratulations on your build! Now you have to post some grouping pics! I think that's how it's supposed to work. Thank you. I haven't shot it yet. I ordered go and no-go headspace gauges which should come in today. I know checking headspace is a topic of debate and I know I used quality parts in this build but I figured it cant hurt to check it and if nothing else, is something more to learn. I live in MA so I didn't want any muzzle attachments and wanted it chambered in .223 Wylde, both of which limited my barrel selection unless I want to have one machined after purchasing it. I really liked the barrel I went with and it was setup for a mid length gas system so that's how I ended up with that on my build. |

Great looking rifle! Kind of the same direction I am wanting to go with mine. What made you choose that specific Geissele trigger? I was looking at the SD-E model myself. Honestly, I was originally going with the RRA National Match Trigger and then I really started reading up on triggers in this forum. Geissele was the overwhelming favorite. From there I decided on the SSA until I got my hands on my cousins AR with the SSA-E. Couple rounds down range and I was sold! I don't think you can go wrong with the SD-E, I just happen to prefer the curved trigger. |
