Up until now I had only installed stocks, installed/swapped trigger groups, and taken apart various other small components of my AR rifles.
The uppers that I barreled were done by a local gunsmith using his gear with me assisting.
I finally gave in and purchased the stuff I needed to do it myself.
I used the following cheap tools to assemble it:
- Model 1 upper block from Gunbroker for $30.49 shipped - Harbor Freight torque wrench $12 - M16 multi-wrench at local funshow $18
In the end it was remarkably easy to do.
I let the delta ring spring force push the wrench off and I rounded a few teeth on the barrel nut, but no real harm done in the end, and I know how not to repeat that next time
The barrel is one of the Bushmaster 1/7 superlights. I'm very pleased with the weight of this thing.
The rest is a real mix. Bushmaster lower, CMT upper, CMMG bolt assy/handle, Colt stock, Duckbill pistol grip, RRA Dominator BUIS...
Now it's off to the range to see how this thing shoots
