Well here are my first test pieces at both De-Anodizing an old A1 Upper and etching the Vader Spade way my 80% lower.

I found this you tube video:
De-Anodizing Alum. Got the Greased Lightning at Lowes and ran it in my ulta sonic cleaner for about 2+ hours. The OLD anodizing was tough and a bitch to get off. But as you can see it came clean. |

I am willing to bet the anodizing on those RC parts are just anodizing, not Hard Coat Anodize like the MIL-SPEC for AR parts. Straight up anodizing is only like .0005" thick whereas this Hard Coat Anodize is .002". That's probably why the YouTube video makes it look easy...
