Good evening guys,
This is my first post on the forums, so first thing I should do is introduce myself. My name is Adam and I work at a firearms retailer in Central Florida. Recently I've decided to set up a trust and begin a SBR build chambered in 5.56NATO. This thread is going to be updated as time passes with the progress I'm making. Although I have a pretty comprehensive list of parts, I don't want to spoil all the surprises at once, so I plan on only revealing the parts that are going on the gun as I order them. I'll be spreading the purchases out over a few months, not only because my Form 1 will take a while to come back, but also for financial reasons. The goal of this project is to end up with a one of a kind AR that will not only look flawless but function reliably. This is no home defense gun or breaching rifle, I intend for it to be more of a functional piece of art than anything. Parts I have so far: Battle Arms Development Lightweight Receiver Set Battle Arms Dev Lightweight Upper Receiver (second upper) Battle Arms Dev Sabertube Buffer Tube and Lightweight Butt Stock Fortis Manufacturing Rev II 9" Rail |

Today I placed the first order towards the build.. I got the Battle Arms Development Lightweight receiver set to start things off. Once this comes in I'll go ahead and and send in the Form 1 to get the ball rolling on a stamp. As of right now I have two questions for you guys which should give you a slight idea of what a few parts of my rifle will look like. First thing I'd like to ask is if anyone knows what grips Phase 5 Tactical uses on the Atlas One pistol? I really want to get the Daniel Defense grip that they use on the ISR-300, but to my understanding, they don't make a model without the trigger guard built in so that's a no-go.
My second question is if anyone knows of any shops/forum members who do dimping or fluting. I'm only interested in someone who has done many jobs for other forum members and can be verified as being quality work. If you have any suggestions, please post here, along with pictures of the work that was done done for you. Looking forward to putting this thing together for you guys! Edit: Found the Atlas One pistol grip. It's the g-27 grip by Mission First Tactical... |

G-27 grip was pretty common 4-5 years ago. I had one but did not like the finger grooves.
There is a member here johnthomas and I believe he does dimpling and barrel work. I'd use him. I will subscribe to this thread for updates....... Just don't cerakote it burnt bronze. |

I have a burnt bronze 1911 and my brother has several BB Ar15s. Used to be his was the only one at the range. Now days.... not so much. |

I'm currently looking into Nefarious. Saw the work he did on some SCAR's and they look outstanding. On another note, I'm not a fan of anything brown. No FDE, Bronze, or anything like it for me. Just a bit of friendly advice, if you have to send your lower out to get it engraved - hold off on doing the Form-1 until it is back in your hands. It's bad enough to lose a "firearm" if it goes missing - but to lose one with a $200.00 tax stamp associated with it would be worse.
As to the fluting - I had ADCO do one for me - very happy with it. Take care, Bob S. |

Ok, so I'm definitely long overdue for an update.. I've been very busy with work and school recently, but things are still moving along nicely. I received the receivers early last week. I also had ordered a Fortis REV II 9" handguard. That came in the day before the receiver set! Unfortunately, the REV II has two "anti-rotational tabs" that sit over the upper and, well, keep the handguard from rotating.. These tabs don't fit my upper. I spoke with Fortis and decided its best I send the handguard and upper over to Rainier Arms for modification. Luis at Rainier has experience with these handguards and fitting as needed, so he said he'd charge $15 for the service.
On that note, I've been playing around with the idea of building two uppers for this rifle. One 300BLK, and the other 5.56, so I went ahead and ordered another upper receiver from Battle Arms Dev, and another Rev II 9" from Fortis. Once I get all this in, I'll send them both off to Luis at the same time and have it taken care of all at once. Also, I had been waiting for Battle Arms to release their Sabertube stock since the day I decided to do this build. Last week they released it, and I'm almost positive I was the first to order one and have it in my hand. So I have that and the lightweight shoulder pad as well. Below is a picture of the parts I have in hand right now, hope you all enjoy the progress! |

Receiver Set
Current Progress My next steps moving forward are as follows: Send out both handguards and upper to be fit Have lower engraved Send to cerakote You'll have an update after everything comes back from Luis at Rainier with details of what he did and how it turned out. Thanks! |
