After reading a lot (including here) and talking to other owners, here is my first AR build. I am intending it for regular 1-2 times per week range training (indoor), classes, home D, and SHTF. I envision usage from 0 to 200 yds.

Here is the spec list:

BCM 16" midlength lightweight complete upper, with CHF barrel

Aero Precision stripped forged lower

G&R complete (Option 4) LPK with:
- Tactical springs CS blue buffer spring
- Spikes ST-T2 buffer
- Noveske QD sling plate

BCM Gunfighter Mod 4 charging handle

Spikes BCG

MOE midlegth handguard with IWC mount n slot QD sling socket installed

Magpul K grip

VLTOR regular modstock ($20 NIB, couldn't resist)

Aimpoint CompM4 (wanted PRO optic, but found NIB M4 for $500, so again couldn't resist) with Aimpoint QRP2 mount

VTAC padded sling with IWC 2:1 triglide for fast QD conversion from single to dual point

No Rear BUIS yet, but looking at Daniel D 1.5 fixed, or Troy folding

Maglevel PMAGs

Also had spikes BCG and hammer coated by WMD guns with Nickel Boron. May be a waste, but knowing myself, wanted easier/faster cleanup.

Is this setup GTG?

Thanks,
Tommato

Sounds like the perfect rifle, IMHO.

I have a BCM gov. profile middy and love it. My brother has a light weight middy, and it blows my mind how much lighter is is.

Go for the DD 1.5 rear sight.

Thanks MP. I met Larry Vickers at the Shot show, and he recommended the DD 1.5 fixed sight as well. I'm looking downstream at picking up an Aimpoint 3x magnifier - do you know if all 3 DD1.5, magnifier, and M4 will fit on top rail? Or would I probably need a cantilever mount fot the M4 to move it forward?

That's a heck of a fine rifle! I also just built a an upper out of a middy BCM LW (non-CHF) and was blown away at how light it was. I ended up getting a MOE handguard and taking off my iMOD and swapping in a MOE stock on the tube. Without even shooting for a lightweight build, it's 6lbs on the nose with an EOTech XPS 2.0 on it.

Thanks Praetor. You know, I can't believe how much of a difference a LW barrel makes over a government or standard profile. The older Modstock I have is comparable in weight to a MOE, but if you slip on the big buttpad it gets a lot heavier. Comp M4 and mount are no lightweights - an EO like you have or an Aimpoint H-1/T-1 are quite a bit lighter...
