As the title states, this rifle I am currently assembling is the first %100 build for me, and I need some wisdom. In the past I only put together a stripped lower and mated it with a complete upper. This time I'm doing everything.
I have my stripped upper and have ordered the barrel. My question is in regards to properly torquing the barrel. I know I need a torque wrench, what I don't know is how you use it on the barrel nut. This carbine I am assembling will not be free floated, it is just going to have a MOE hand guard on it. I have looked around this section of the forum and I'm not seeing how to put all the parts on an upper the does not involve a free float rail. How am I to attach the torque wrench to the AR armorers tool to make the make sure I've got the necessary torque? My necessary torque is around 35-40ft lbs right? |

Your armorer wrench should have an square cut-out that is 1/2". Put the Torque wrench to that hole. I believe from what read you should use some sort of anti seize lube or grease on the barrel nut then torque to 80lbs by going up to 30lbs then untighten then go higher and untighten then up again to 80lbs.
I am going to install a free float from Yankee Hill which needs their own wrench for their nut and retaining washer. It however does not have a cut-out for a torque wrench. Anyone that knows feel free to enlighten on this one. |
