Ok, after some finagling at my local gun shop I traded my Beretta 92fs for a dpms stripped lower and a Bersa Thunder CC .380.  I installed a parts kit tonight and lost my takedown pin detent.  Needless to say after looking it could be anywhere.  However I am looking at some opinions on a upper and what to stay away from.  I really want a complete flat-top upper other than that I am up to suggestions.  Who has 14.5 inch barrels with welded/tacked/pinned on flash suppressors?  Anyway thanks for the help.

CMMG

In fact they have something even cooler than that: A 14.7" with a permanent A2 flash hider.

I was looking at this magpul stock and have questions.  I cannot find anywhere what type of buffer tube my dpms lower has?  Is it considered a commercial or military buffer tube?

Thanks

Does you lowed have a tube at all ?
In your OP you said you have a Striped lower, and a lower parts kit, that does not include a buffer tube.

However, I would get a Mil-Spec tube, for more options with stocks.

Cool, thanks.  I figured it was a thread thing on my lower.  I knew I didn't have a tube, I just thought your lower maybe dictated what tube you could buy.  I have tore these apart in the ARMY but never put anything together that wasn't already apart of my rifle.  I'm learning with this build.  Thank you guys for help.  With the CMMG what would you recommend?

Go with what you want, I have one like that, and I love it.

If one wants a M4 upper with a troy quad rail is it best to buy a complete upper and then take off the foregrip?

Either way, I guess the complete upper would be the way to go, however, all of mine are custom builds, by me, that way you get exactly what you want.

good trick to do when putting together a stripped lower is install the pivot pin detent in a plastic bag so when it shoots out it will just go in the bag

Yeah I thought of that right before it went sailing, I then was able to put the other pin in its place for the buffer I think.  Anyway the first attempt after losing it went in quick and very easy.  Anybody know where I can get another detent pin?  Also how hard is it to take out the finger guard with those roll pins and replace with a new magpul finger guard?

no it is a piece of cake to change the trigger guards just tap the pins out and replace.
here is for your detents.
