My rifle is a A2 type with no unusual accessories.  I am 68, with bad eyes and hands so I wanted to keep things as easy as possible.  I studied the information on this foroum before I did anything.

I picked up a Spike Tactical lower at a gun show in Lakeland and I Garrison Manufacturing A2 kit.

I had two problems.  The pistol grip screw would not go far enough to tighten.  I measured the hole depth and it was deep enough, but the screw would not go in far enough.  I did not want to mess around trying to cut threads so I put about 1/4 inches of washers.  The people at Garrison told me they would have a shorter screw in the mail tomorrow.  These people are super to deal with.

The biggest problem was with the most difficult step in the build, the pivot pin assembly.  After about an hour of messinbg around and loosing and finding the detent about 12 times I discovered that the pivot detent spring hole was not deep enoung to allow the spring to compress enough to put the pin in.  I ended up cutting a few coils off the spring, one at a time, until the spring and detent would allow the pin to be inserted.

I am very pleased with the way the rifle looks.  The color match of the receiver to upper is excellent. All of the parts seem to be well made and fit very well.  I did not scratch and of the black, but did bugger up the grip screw.

I ordered the kit Friday night and it was delivered to my door this morning.  The parts were very well packed in paper and individual bags.  The small parts were in a hard plastic box.

The total cost for this "standard" A-2 was $550.00.

Great job on the build and now the fun part…throwing lead down range. Let us know how it shoots. Love to see some pictures?
