Looks awesome. I've used Tom's 1/3 Mix wax before with great success, in case you were as-yet undecided on the product to use.
I just did a carbine with a set from Lucid that I'm really happy with. Except I wish I would have done at least a midlength 16in or rifle length 18in barrel - for aesthetic purposes. Strongly considering a re-build. Are you happy with the kit from IronWood for fit/finish/etc? Would you buy from them again? |

Everything fit just great and they do a fantastic job of rough sanding and pre-fitting everything before it ships. Their rough sanding is pretty darn smooth, but you do have to do some additional sanding and buffing before applying the finish. |

Is there a such thing as steel receivers? That would look incredible with some blue steel. Either way, I love the wood. Only one I'm aware of is Turnbull. Very, very beautiful guns but they're also $$$$ http://www.turnbullmfg.com/gun/turnbull-tar-15-rifle/ |

Very nice combo on that rifle. I will admit to being a little disappointed that it wasn't a A1 or C7 upper tho. That was my original thought, but I decided that I wanted something new school with an old school flair and a classic wood look. I have my share of retros already. This AR truly stands out amongst all the others in my large collection of ARs. |
| BTW, I did get this out to the range yesterday morning to sight it in. After doing so, I ran a few more rounds through it just for fun. All totaled, only 30 rounds were put through it. I love the performance of these Windham Weaponry barrels. After sighting in at 50 yards, I decided to shoot something a little further away. There happened to be a clay (stray from the trap shooting range) near the top of the berm (about 110 yards away), so I decided to see if I could hit it. First two shots were just above it. I forgot that I had to adjust my POA slightly to compensate for bullet rise at that distance. I dropped my POA down a few inches and that did the trick. |

I've always been a sucker for nice walnut and maple, especially on guitars.
That is a very pretty rifle and someday I'll put something in the safe which was built of Wood & Steel (huge Taylor Guitars fan here). A good friend of mine always gives me a hard time on how I sell too many "black and plastic" guns and that I need something with character and soul, and I always reply that my only wood-stocked firearm is a 1902 12ga that hasn't been fired since 1972. Beautiful gun you made! |
